die BMW would mean that the referent is a motorbike from that manufacturer; those are always feminine.

Er/Sie/Es fährt eine BMW / eine Yamaha / eine Honda / eine Ducati.
Motorrad is neuter, yes. But the brand name gender comes from die Maschine, just like the cars’ gender comes from der Wagen. (Thanks to modalauxiliary I’ve learned that this is called Feldgenus ’(word) field gender’.)
The sole exception: Isetta which is something between motorbike and car.
